Only Anil was convinced that I can do comedy: Kangana
“I had decided whenever I do my first comedy it would have to be either with Anees Bazmee or David Dhawan. Everyone thought I was wrong for the part in ‘No Problem’. No one was convinced I could do comedy, not after playing all those traumatised roles. But Anilji convinced everyone that I could,” Kangana told IANS.
The film is being directed by Anees Bazmee and also stars Sushmita Sen.
“So far I’ve never had fun on the sets. All the characters I’ve played have been introverted and troubled. So I’ve been in my shell. During ‘Fashion’ Madhur Bhandarkar used to scold me for being in a shell all the time. But if I play insecure, paranoid characters, I can’t be laughing and playing around. But it was the nature of the characters.
“For Anees Bazmi’s film I’m changing completely. I’m going to organise parties on the sets, constantly crack Santa-Banta jokes and, most important of all, I will bond with Sushmita (Sen). Hopefully our bonding will last beyond one film,” she said.
After signing a film together, Sushmita has taken the lovely Kangana under her wings. Always known to be warm towards her co-stars, Sushmita has taken a special fancy to Kangana because of her facial resemblance to Sushmita’s daughter Renee.
“On the first day that we met, we struck a special chord in each other’s hearts. I was standing at a premiere and she came up to me. She held my face in her hands and said I’ve hair exactly like her daughter. And that whenever she saw me she was reminded of her daughter.
“From that moment onwards we bonded. Luckily, I play Sushmita’s sister in the film that we’re doing together. I love calling her didi,” said the actress who won best supporting actress Filmfare award for her performance in “Fashion”.
Kangana, who starred in films like “Woh Lamhe” and “Gangster - A Love Story”, is pleased to be finally doing comedy.
“I was really hurt when people said I was destined only to play tragic roles. I wanted to do comedy for the longest time. And that I’ve Sushmita playing my sister in the film is an added bonus. We’ll have a ball playing sisters,” she said.
SRK planning to sell of IPL team
According to the magazine’s reports there are speculations that SRK is in talks with three big companies to take over his entire shareholding in the Knight Riders team. These names are said to be – Cell giant Nokia (SRK is their brand ambassador and they are also his team’s sponsors), Anil Dhirubhai Ambani group and Sahara group. It can be recalled that the King Khan had purchased the Kolkata franchise for a whopping Rs. 300 crore last year.
Now if he sells it he can at least make a cool profit of Rs. 100-150 crore. The magazine further claims that earlier SRK was just interested in selling a part of its stake but all those whom he approached also wanted management control which lead him to the three names mentioned above to sell his entire shareholding.
SRK has been quiet unlucky in the last season as well as the present on going one where his team is dipping right to the bottom of the chart. So may be it is that or may be he has realized owning a cricket team is not as easy as owning a production house. -Sampurn Media
Katrina Kaif still remains Akshay Kumar’s numero uno choice as co-star.
Of all the beautiful babes in Bollywood, Katrina Kaif still remains Akshay Kumar’s numero uno choice as co-star.
Though Katrina is in the top league of Bollywood actresses today, she is seldom credited for it. Often we hear rants about how Katrina struck fame by cashing in on the popularity of a crowd-puller like Akshay Kumar .
But, may be, it worked the other way round too. That Akshay while being the star to which Kat hitched her wagon also benefited from her as a co-star. How otherwise could one explain Akshay’s failed jodis with the likes of Deepika Padukone and Ayesha Takia in the last two of his releases – Chandni Chowk To China and 8x10 Tasveer respectively.
Of course, today we know that Katrina Kaif is the film’s heroine and has already shot one schedule of the film and is currently filming its second schedule in Singapore. But she may not have landed the role if Akshay hadn’t recommended her to Priyadarshan.
The director confirms that Katrina was signed for ‘De Dana Dan’ after Akshay’s recommendation. He says he’s happy to have made that choice because, in his words, Akshay and Katrina share a “terrific chemistry on screen”.
Well, we all know that.From:www.apunkachoice.com

Saif whisks Kareena off for a Special Holiday
The villa has housed celebrities like Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Greta Garbo, Gregory Peck, Clark Gable, Eddie Murphy, Liza Minelli, Sylvester Stallone and Bing Crosby amongst others. Alfred Hitchcock shot his first movie The Pleasure Garden here.
Says a source close to the couple, "Kareena has not been keeping well so Saif decided it was time for her to take a break. He called their business manager Zahid and cancelled all her work commitments for the next two weeks. Except for a brief Swiss holiday in Christmas, the actress has been busy with her films, shows and endorsements for a major part of the year. Kareena has also some big releases coming this year including Karan Johar's home productions directed by Rensil D'Silva and the one with Kajol and Raj Kumar Hirani's 3 Idiots."
The source adds that Saif is making all the travel arrangements. It will be their first time in Florence. He zeroed in on Florence as he loves it's old world charm and magnificent architecture of its chapels and churches. Seeing Michelangelo's paintings in Florence is also a part of the itenary.
The Prince of Pataudi is quite excited about their stay at the Villa d'Este. The source adds, "Although it is super-expensive, that was not an issue. Saif feels it's a well-deserved break and wants to make the trip special. Last time, he had booked an entire chalet in the Swiss Alps. Saif has made Bebo understand the importance of balancing her private and professional life. She won't be taking any phone calls during the holiday. It's all about fun."
Kareena says, "Yes, it's true Saif and I are shortly leaving for our Italian holiday soon but it's private and I wouldn't like to divulge the details of our stay."
Salman Khan brings Awareness for Hot and Run in Ad
Salman khan’s drink and driving scandal is still fresh in people’s memory when he drove rashly and ran over some poor people and ran away from the spot ironically the same salman khan is doing a ad to bring awareness for hit and run cases.
in this ad he tells people not to leave the victims on roads to be dead. stay there and try to help them out. he conveys the message not to drive when you are drunk.
A source says, “The ad talks about how people just ignore those who are in distress on roads when hit by someone. It shows a man hit by a vehicle who is left to die.”
Nikhil Saini who directs the ad says, Yes, Salman has done a 90-second ad with us. After the story unfolds, Salman comes to give a public service message. He is wearing ‘Being human’ shirt and he says, “Apni zimmidari se mat bhagiye. Responsible aur zimmedar logo ki zaroorat hai is desh ko.” The ad also has Vipin Sharma, (Darsheel Safary’s father in Tare Zameen Par) and Shailendra Gaur, in it. We are quite hopeful of driving home the point.”
well lets see if people take him seriously.
Shahrukh stepping Into Aamir's Shoes
The news is doing the rounds that Shahrukh is going to replace Aamir in a new film by Reema Kagtis. It is said that Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani had a fall-out with Aamir over terms of the film, as Aamir demanded a whopping fee and certain percentage of the profit. The fall-out happened on the sets of 3 Idiots where Ritesh had come to finalise the deal. He left the sets disappointed, as he couldn't buy the terms and conditions laid down by the actor.
It may be recalled that Farhan, Ritesh and Aamir were like family and their film Dil Chahta Hai was a huge hit. Now, it looks like their relationship will be affected by this turn out. Ritesh Sidhwani confirmed that they were supposed to work with Aamir but had fallen out over his unacceptable demands. However, he refused to confirm if Shahrukh is replacing Aamir. He said that they would announce very soon if Shahrukh is in the film.
On the other hand, sources close to Aamir claimed that the actor never works for money or friends. It added that he turned down the offer as he didn't like the script.
Well, nobody can hide the truth. Keep a watch on this space!

I don’t want to be just Arm Candy: Sonam Kapoor
“I’m all game for doing movies that are set in commercial parlance,” said Sonam, who is choosing her projects carefully.
“It’s a misconception that after films like ‘Saawariya’ and ‘Delhi-6′, I’m only looking at films with serious overtones. All I look for is meat in my role.”
“See, I have never looked down upon hardcore commercial cinema. It’s just that I never wish to be an arm candy who does four songs, a couple of scenes and then vanishes away from screen. Those are not at all the kind of roles that excite me,” added Sonam, who will be seen in her father Anil Kapoor’s home production titled “Ayesha”.
The 23-year-old may have suffered two box office failures in the “Delhi-6″ and “Saawariya”, but that hasn’t hampered her passion for movies.
“Give me a meaningful role and I will do it even if it is hardcore commercial. Who says Bollywood masala movies do not have good roles for heroines? Look at what Lara Dutta did in ‘No Entry’. Now that’s a kind of role that I certainly don’t mind doing,” she said.
Any other reference points?
“Priyanka Chopra’s role in ‘Dostana’,” she said promptly. “She was so good in the movie and the character was extremely well-written as well.”
Incidentally, Lara had played Anil’s wife in “No Entry” while Sonam’s “Delhi-6″ co-star Abhishek Bachchan was seen with Priyanka in “Dostana”.
Mumbai, April 30 (IANS)
Preity and Neil to feature in a timepiece ad
He is endorsing an Italian luxury watch with Preity Zinta. The actress shot for the ad two days before leaving for the IPL in South Africa.
Says a source from the brand, "Neil was the only option for this ad because of his international looks.
His stubble gives him a rugged look, which is what the client was looking for. And Priety was selected for her strong presence in the international market and for her sophistication."
SRK chosen over Akki to perform at big fat Indian Wedding
He is also planning to host a big bash for Hollywood star Gerald Butler of the film 300 fame but that apart he is here to perform at a big fat Indian wedding ceremony taking place in Mumbai at the Kamla Mills Compound on Thursday April 30th evening. It is learnt that it was Akshay Kumar whom the organisers had approached first but when the Khiladi Kumar quoted an astronomical price, the organisers roped in the King Khan who came cheaper. This wedding is of famous builder Kanti Govani’s nephew. SRK’s performance has been termed as The King Khan Nite. The next day that is on May 1st it will be music director Pritam Nite followed by Hollywood stuntmen performances including a huge explosion. The actual wedding shall take place on Sunday May 3rd morning.
Sources reveal, “SRK has been dancing at weddings and earning big moolah for years now and he has non apologetic about it. His price is reportedly around Rs 3-4 crore for such performances. This time, he shall be performing with three of Bollywood’s top heroines. Though the names haven’t been confirmed, there is strong buzz that Rani Mukherjee, Bipasha Basu and Celina Jaitley are scheduled to perform along side SRK. Akki had earlier danced for the wedding of Kanti Govani’s son and had made a entry that time on a horse back. Salman Khan too had performed that time and was reportedly gifted a sports car for his act.”
Mallika Sherawat get “Arts Award” in New York
fter becoming the first Bollywood celebrity to have a milkshake named after her at the hotspot ‘Millions of Milkshakes’ in Hollywood city, Mallika Sherawat has now become the latest recipient of the prestigious “Arts Award” in New York.
The sexy actress was honoured recently for her unparalleled contributions to and influence with the Indian diaspora.
The event was organised by Honorable Jerramiah Healy, the Mayor of Jersey City and the New Jersey co-chair of President Barack Obama's primary campaign to honor the Indian community and its contributions to the United States.
Out of America's 100 largest cities, Jersey City has one of the largest percentages of South Asians. Area politicians, business persons, and members of the press attended the event.
As a congressional honoree, U.S. Congressman Frank Pallone (father of the India Caucus in the U.S. Congress), among others, also graced the event with his presence. The host of the event was JCHA Commissioner Raj Mukherji (the youngest commissioner in city history to serve the Housing Authority).From:www.indiaglitz.com
Mallika Sherawat was born Reema Lamba on October 24, 1981, in Haryana, India. Raised by conservative parents, Reema spent her childhood harboring secret dreams of someday making a living as a model and actress.
Amitabh refused to work with Abhishek!
Filmmaker Sujoy Ghosh (of ‘Jhankaar Beats’ fame) revealed, “One afternoon when I was narrating the first draft of ‘Aladin’ to Mr. Bachchan, the initial script caught his attention but he was also quick to state; “Sounds interesting... but let’s not consider Abhishek for Aladin’s role. We are already doing a few films together... so let’s take a fresh face this time”. That’s how we thought of casting Riteish. Riteish is a very close friend of Abhishek and thus bonded very well with Amitabh.
We hope the new 'Aladin – Genie' combination will create magic at the box-office too.
Amitabh Bachchan Turns Stylist
While planning a shoot for a special number for his forthcoming film ‘Aladin’, directed by Sujoy Ghosh, Mr. Bachchan suggested doing his own styling for the song’s picturisation.
Apparently Mr. Bachchan was extremely excited about the groovy track picturised on himself and Riteish Deshmukh and while planning the shoot for the peppy number, expressed his desire to contribute to the song in his very own way: by choosing his own outfit for it!
Of course, the director willingly agreed and Mr. Bachchan went on to chose a deep red velvet jacket which added that extra touch of grandeur to his already larger-than-life persona in the film.
Now that’s what we call flaunting your style with panache!
Mayawati is India's Most Stylish Neta
Sonia Gandhi, Congress
She is the most dignified leader in the country when it comes to dressing. Almost complimenting her personal outlook to politics, her wardrobe isn't drenched in superficial sulk. Sonia understands the importance of subtle perfection: her hair is simply done, but never out of place, the understated handloom saris or Tassar churidar-kurtas are never without an absence of colour, and her shoes are classic peep-toe wedges.
Tip: It would be interesting to see her in something younger; maybe well-cut pencil pants worn under a knee-length tunic.
J Jayalalithaa, AIADMK
The one-time glam girl of south Indian cinema now shrouds herself in saris, sometimes shielded with a bullet-proof cape from the same fabric. The owner of 10,000 sarees and 750 pairs of shoes, as one raid at her residence revealed, tends to resort to dark monotones, which is smart considering her girth.
Tip: The occasional floral prints she sports needs to be put aside. When in doubt, wear black. Especially when you are 61 and overweight.
Narendra Modi, BJP
The man with a mission to corporatise brand India isn't averse to brands. Bulgari rimless glasses, Mont Blanc pens and designer flat-dial watches are constant companions, even when he's launching a verbal blitzkrieg against Sonia Gandhi's Italian lineage. In Gujarat, he has single-handedly rechristened his trademark half-sleeve cotton bush shirt as the Modi Kurta and his double-strapped flat, brown chappals as Modi Chappals.
Tip: His charisma overshadows the style glitches, but maybe Modi without the facial hair would be a surprise.
Omar Abdullah, National Conference
He's got age on his side, not to mention taste. So whether Omar dresses in a crisp blue shirt worn under a knit cardigan, a pinstripe shirt with a blazing red tie, a dressy sherwani or a well-fitted jacket, he looks dapper. It will be interesting to see him opt for the jeans-Polo shirt-Ray Ban Aviators avatar.
Tip: Can we get a hairstylist to rid him of that peak of hair that juts out like a peninsula into an ocean of baldness?
Raj Thackeray, MNS
The man who caused havoc for North Indians is surprisingly diminutive in stature. We love the spin he gives to a drab shirt when he contrasts it with a sleeveless sweater bearing a flash of colour and designer sunglasses.
Tip: While he needs the kurta to connect with the Marathi manoos, nothing stops him from adding an edge to draw in the youth by slipping on a pair of rugged denims underneath.
Priya Dutt, Congress
Priya's non-committal approach to everything conventional, including the outdated whites and sarees, asserts itself muscularly to make her a woman who isn't afraid of wearing pants to Parliament or sporting a chunky wrist watch at a political rally. She combines the traditional with modern when she teams a hand-block printed kurti in vivacious blue with denim and girly, floral slip-ons.
Tip: How about adding some designer jazz to ordinary kurtis, perhaps a Monisha Jaising kurti in glamorous chamois?
P Chidambaram, Congress
The comforting waft of filter kapi wafts into our living rooms whenever the home minister appears on TV. Whether he's presenting the budget or visiting heads of state abroad, he never ditches the mundu (lungi). His ethnicity has made him an unconventional style icon, even for lifestyle magazine editors like N Radhakrishnan, who revealed his desire to feature him on the cover of Man's World.
Tip: The saucer spectacles must go. A sleeker frame was in order a decade ago, Chidu.
L K Advani, BJP
The PM aspirant comes across as rigid as far as his wardrobe goes. He rarely deviates from the kurta-pyjama-Nehru jacket combo; the only change is the colour of the jacket beige, black or slate.
Tip: A quick way to alter his look would be to invest in a new pair of spectacle frames. The current ones are way too large. A slim, rimless pair would be classier.
Lalu Prasad Yadav, RJD
He loves his khadi kurta-pyjama that he jazzes up with a Nehru jacket or a snug cardigan that accentuates his belly. On special occasions, he might want to try chic raw silk kurtas, Javed Akhtar style.
Tip: A trip to a salon, not the local hajaam, is in order. The excess and unruly hair on the head and ears needs to be taken care of. A crop that's styled with stronghold gel, swept to the side rather than falling in a tapeli-cut, should do the trick.
Varun Gandhi, BJP
While the Chinese-collared kurtas might be his way to blend with the experienced, he's alienating GenY.
Tip: Who sports a centre parting unless you are still reeling under the Tere Naam craze? A sleeker, buzzed haircut will make his face look less chubby.
Mayawati, BSP
The good thing is no matter how gawky she is, she's unique. The full-sleeved nylon salwar kameez, with a dupatta slung around her neck and heavy gold bangles rarely leave her. If she would only up the quality of the fabric (try Tassar silk or a handwoven cotton-silk blend) and ditch the bangles for a subtle, matte gold bracelet, or a pair of solitaires, she wouldn't look like she's trying too hard.
Tip: We're glad she cut the ponytail, but she needs to style her hair. The current top-heavy crop adds weight to her face.
Rahul Gandhi, Congress
Rahul's quiet charm provokes a flurry of naughty thoughts. His signature starched white kurta-pyjama is teamed with footwear that best suits the task at hand sneakers for the Olympian pace at rallies, loafers for Parliament, and platform sandals worn with jeans when he permits himself to socialise.
Tip: We've heard that a tediously worked-out six-pack lies beneath the kurta. Perhaps a linen shirt over worn-out denims will help us get closer to veracity.
Lindsay Lohan Thinks She Looks Good In a Bikini
After going on Ellen last week and explaining how she was going to get her career back on track now that she's single, Lindsay Lohan got her resume together, hired a new agent and began seriously checking out the job market, looking for small independent films where she can re-establish her credibility.
Nah, I'm just kidding. She went to Maui and laid around in a bikini. The worst part was, she kept bending over and stretching for the camera, like she thought we would enjoy it.
We don't, Lindsay, we don't.
