Daughter of Infosys founder and Chief Mentor Narayana Murthy, Akshata Murthy tied the knot with her Stanford classmate Rishi Sunak at Hotel Leela Palace Kempinski in Bangalore, yesterday, 30 August 2009.
It was a traditional Indian wedding, followed by a typical Karnataka vegetarian lunch and reception.
The reception was "good governance" and saw over 1000 people from business, including Wipro Chairman Azim Premji, Biocon chairman and managing director Kiran mazumdar Shaw, founder of low-cost airline, Air Deccan, Captain GR Gopinath, a former Infosys CEO Nandan Nilekani, Titan Industries MD Bhaskar Bhat, Narayana Hrudayalaya founder and Chairman Devi Shetty, MindTree chairman Ashok Soot.
Among politicians Mallikarjun Kharga, Dharam Singh and Siddaramaiah were some of the names present.
Sports personalities such as former badminton ace Prakash Padukone, ex-footballer Side Kirmani and Anil Kumble were also present.
